Have you started bracing yourself for the
summer rush yet? If you haven't prepared
for the upcoming trade spike, now is
definitely the time to do so. You may be
looking to supplement your staff for summer trading,
and the latest data from the Australian Bureau of
Statistics suggests that part-time work is definitely
where the labour market is headed.
Since December 2015 over 105,000 more people
have started part-time work, as compared to a
decrease of 21,500 full-time roles. Jacqui Jones,
program manager of the ABS' Labour and Income
Branch, also pointed out that the majority of new
part-time roles were filled by males.
So jump on this swing towards part-time work
and ensure you have enough staff for the silly season.
While you're at it, this issue of Australian Hotelier
will also give you some pointers on how best to plan
for Christmas party bookings, and how to keep your
outdoor areas cool. Speaking of outdoor areas, check
out our feature on some of the most famous and
beautiful beer gardens across the country!
