Another month, and another report is
clarifying what has been obvious for the
past six months: Australians are drinking
less alcohol, but they are drinking better
quality alcohol. The Enhanced Media Metrics
Australia's Alcoholic Beverages Trends & Insights
Report has found that Aussies are spending more
money on alcohol per capita, while drinking less,
with the dollar value of alcoholic drinks rising by 1.5
per cent in 2015.
Premiumisation continues to be a huge consumer
trend, and one that savvy hotel operators are
capitalising on with the offering of premium
alcoholic beverages -- with everything from beer to
spirits to RTDs.
In this issue we'll be looking at new opportunities
for operators in the categories of cider (p 16) and
RTDs (p 22). We'll also be looking at what first-
time operators should be looking for in a pub
investment, on page 18, plus our annual preview of
the Australasian Gaming Expo will give you a sneak
peek into what you can expect from this year's show.
