FRESH IS BEST
Carlton Draught is continuing to lead the biggest
innovation in draught beer with Brewery Fresh Tank

From June 26, Sydney CBD's Republic Hotel
will be pouring brewery fresh draught beer, joined
subsequently by North Sydney's Rag & Famish (3
July), Hunters Hill Hotel (10 July), Northern Beaches'
Collaroy Hotel (17 July), Parramatta's Commercial
Hotel (24 July) and Bondi's Tea Gardens (31 July).
Brewery Fresh Tank Beer was born from an
ongoing commitment to deliver Brewery Fresh beer
to pubs across Australia. To put it simply, Tank Beer
is 'the freshest' draught beer available. The beer is
unpasteurised, meaning it is decanted directly from the
bright beer tank. It is then kept chilled and delivered
swiftly to the venue so Australians can enjoy Carlton
Draught as the brewers intended.
Since Brewery Fresh Tank Beer launched in October
2014, 50,000 litres have been delivered to venues
across Sydney, with this figure set to double once all 11
NSW venues have installed the copper tanks.

John McGurk, licensee of the Willoughby Hotel has seen a great
response on ground. "Tank Beer has had an extremely positive impact
on the hotel. Our sales of Carlton Draught and all draught beer have
increased significantly. Brewery Fresh Tank Beer sits comfortably
in between the traditional drinker and those that lean towards the
CUB says that since it launched Tank Beer in Sydney, the response from
Sydneysiders and venues has been phenomenal.
"Clearly, there is a huge demand for fresh, quality draught beer
as Sydneysiders have embraced Carlton Draught Tank Beer. We are
delighted and proud to be expanding Tank beer into another six venues
in Sydney, currently we are delivering over 8,000 litres per month and
this is on track to double in the coming months," says Carlton Draught
marketing manager Michael Mckeown.
Peter Calligeros, owner of North Sydney's Rag & Famish says,
"Throughout the pub's long history, we have prided ourselves on pouring
excellent quality draught beer. Our patron's love for draught beer meant
taking the opportunity to install the tanks and give our customers the
best draught beer was hard to pass up."
Alistair Flower at Northern Beaches Collaroy Hotel says the beachside
venue is anticipating success with the installation of the tanks: "With the
waters surrounding us, we try and serve only the freshest food and drink
to our patrons. It therefore made perfect sense to serve Carlton Draught
Brewery Fresh Tank Beer."
Consumers continue to drink
less but better. The trend for
premiumisation is very much
prevalent in draught beers, with
the steady growth in popularity of
craft and international premium
beers on tap.
And with an abundance of
choice, consumers are becoming
more discerning, opting for niche
and boutique beers over more
To satisfy this consumer
demand for quality and choice,
publicans and small bar owners
are looking for a point of
difference when it comes to their
draught beer offering.
Brewers are increasingly turning
to local production to meet the
demand for the flavour and quality
of the best international beers but
with the freshest possible taste.
The likes of Heineken, Becks,
Peroni are all brewed locally.
That list now includes Coors and
Blue Moon, with Molson Coors'
transition to local production for
the Australian market overseen by
fifth generation family member,
"Having been importing
draught Coors beer since
November last year, increased
demand combined with our
desire to give consumers the
freshest possible led us to move to
producing Coors locally. We are
very pleased with the quality of
the beer," says Coors.
Another factor working in the
brand's favour is its lighter, easy-
drinking style and its lower calorie
count (a 330ml bottle of Coors
has just 93 calories and 4.6 grams
of carbs, compared to 132 calories
and 11.6 grams in the market-
leading alternative premium
international beer). It's this
flavour combination that appeals
to the growing band of health-
conscious consumers, looking for
a more permissible drink without
compromising on flavour.
The growth in popularity
and ranging of craft beer has
also benefitted Blue Moon, now
locally produced for added
freshness, whose natural unfiltered
appearance, subtle Valencia
orange peel sweetness and unique
orange slice garnish continue to
provide its point of difference.
"There's just nothing better
than a fresh Blue Moon served
perfectly in its signature glass with
a slice of orange and we are very
pleased with how it is performing
in the market. The distribution
and throughputs for Coors have
grown strongly this year, with
further exciting summer programs
in the pipeline for summer to
help educate, excite and reward
consumers and the trade,"
